Rev. Fr. Peter Kofi Abel was born on the 31st of October, 1969, at New Takoradi. He began his seminary formation at St. Teresa’s Minor Seminary, Amisano, from 1985 to 1992. He then proceeded to St Paul’s Major Seminary, Sowutuom from 1992 to 1995. Fr. Abel entered St Peter’s Regional Seminary, Pedu, for his theological studies in 1995 and completed in 1999, where he obtained BA Hons in Religions and Sociology.
He was ordained a priest for the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese on the 9th of December, 1999 at the Star of the Sea cathedral, Takoradi, by Most Rev. John Martin Darko. Fr. was appointed as the Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart Parish, Aboso, from 2000 to 2003.
He then proceeded to Rome, Ponteficio Ateneo S.Anselmo, from 2003 to 2006, where he obtained a Licentiate in Sacred Liturgy. Upon his return to Ghana, he was made the Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Parish, Ketan, from 2007 to 2015. From 2015 until his appointment as a formator in St. Peter’s Regional Seminary in 2017, Fr. Abel was the Spiritual Director and Chaplain of St. Mary’s Boys Senior High School and Seminary.
