Seventy years is a significant milestone in the life of any institution. It is a moment to look back with gratitude, to celebrate the journey so far, and to look forward with renewed hope and commitment. For St. Peter’s Regional Seminary, Pedu, the celebration of 70 years is an opportunity to give thanks to God for His faithfulness and to acknowledge the many individuals who, through their dedication and sacrifice, have contributed to the growth and mission of the Seminary.
For seven decades, St. Peter’s Regional Seminary has participated in the mission of the Catholic Church by preparing men for the sacred ministry of the priesthood. The Seminary has been a place where candidates for the priesthood have been formed intellectually, spiritually, pastorally, and humanly, so that they may become worthy instruments of Christ in the service of God and His people.
The mission of priestly formation finds its ultimate purpose in Christ’s command to His disciples: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). Yet, as St. Paul reminds us, “How are they to hear without someone preaching?” and “How are they to preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:14-15). The Church therefore needs well-prepared ministers who can faithfully proclaim the Gospel and serve God’s people. It is within this mission that the work of the Seminary finds its profound significance.
As St. Peter’s Regional Seminary celebrates this historic milestone, it also looks towards the future. The 70th anniversary is therefore not only an occasion for celebration but also an opportunity to strengthen the structures that support the formation of future priests. As part of the anniversary initiatives, plans are underway to renovate the lecture block and undertake other projects and monuments that will contribute to the development of the Seminary. These projects are intended to provide a more conducive environment for the intellectual and holistic formation of seminarians and to serve generations to come.
The celebration of 70 years is, therefore, both a remembrance of a rich journey and a commitment to the future. As we give thanks for the priests, formators, staff, benefactors, alumni and seminarians who have contributed to the Seminary’s mission over the years, we are also reminded that the work of priestly formation remains a shared responsibility.
The Seminary community warmly invites all priests, religious, alumni, benefactors, parishes, institutions, friends and well-wishers to join us in celebrating this remarkable milestone. We also humbly appeal for support, in cash or in kind, towards the successful completion of the anniversary projects. Your generosity will contribute not only to the celebration of 70 years but also to the continuous formation of future shepherds who will serve the Church and society.
As St. Peter’s Regional Seminary celebrates 70 years of priestly formation and ministry, may this anniversary be a moment of thanksgiving for the past, renewed commitment in the present, and hope for the future. May God continue to bless the Seminary and all who have contributed, and continue to contribute, to its mission of forming priests after the heart of Christ.
